Community Outreach
9th Avenue Veterinary Clinic works closely with the Animal Anti Cruelty League, Animal Welfar Society, Save-A-Pet, Cat Care, PEAR rescue as well as doing charity work for the Walmer township. We have a deep rooted culture of giving back to the community and helping animals every chance we can get.
One of the biggest community projects that the clinic was involved in, includes the Nelson Mandela Bay Spayathon – Which is the largest dog sterilisation project ever conducted in our City.
Over 700 dogs were sterilised, entirely funded by the Office of the Executive Mayor and facilitated by the Animal Welfare Society (Port Elizabeth). This allowed pet owners to access a desired service that would otherwise have been unaffordable and also prevents the birth of approximately 4 800 puppies per year.
Dr. Hayward was awarded a vocational service award in recognition for his outstanding service to the community through his work.
